Name-Based Case Searches
For a Superior Court matter, a name search starts with the Clerk of Superior Court. Its civil and criminal records link leads to Icon Case Management, which greets you with a UserID and password login rather than open name filters. The other official route is the Georgia Courts E-Access directory. That directory points Butts Superior users to PeachCourt and notes that an account is required.
Type the full legal name exactly as the notice shows it. Note the likely case type too. Similar names can pull up someone else's case. Confirm any match by court, case number, and filing type. When nothing comes back, contact the clerk's office directly. A blank result may mean several things. It could be the wrong court, an account gate, an indexing delay, or a lawful restriction on the file.
- Read the court name on the source document.
- Choose the Superior Clerk route only for Superior matters.
- Register or sign in when the provider requires it.
- Compare the court, number, and case type.
- Ask the custodian to confirm an uncertain result.
Butts County Court Selection
Butts County records do not sit in one shared index. Morgan V. Ward, Clerk of Superior Court, holds Superior civil, domestic, felony, misdemeanor, and appeal files. Probate Court keeps estates, guardianships, licenses, and county traffic cases. Magistrate Court handles warrants, preliminary matters, dispossessory cases, garnishments, and civil claims within its jurisdiction. The clerks in Jackson and Jenkinsburg keep city traffic and ordinance cases. Juvenile files stay separate and generally confidential.
Routing matters. A Flovilla city-code case belongs in Magistrate Court. A Jackson citation stays with Jackson Municipal Court unless a later step moves it. The county directory lists no separate Butts State Court. Begin with the office that received the filing.
Quick answer: When a document does not name the court, call the office that issued or accepted it before opening a portal.
Case Number Searches
A known number beats a name search for precision. One redacted Superior calendar showed the format YYYY-SU-V-NNNN. Keep every letter, separator, and leading zero exactly as the source displays them. And be careful: a current calendar can list an older case. The year in the number does not tell you when each later event occurred.
Never build an ImageViewer address from a party name or partial number. Icon relies on internal case, county, record-type, and event parameters. Enter the number only through an official interface. Phone or mail requests need more. Pair the number with the court, the case style, and the document you want.
PeachCourt's Butts County Gate
The PeachCourt search route sits behind a login wall. You see fields for Email and Password, plus links for Forgot your password and Register. PeachCourt can hold docket data. It can also hold document images for participating Superior Courts. It is not a universal county-name index. A Butts County court docket may not appear there at all.
The official page at PeachCourt's search route shows the sign-in screen and its registration options.

The login view sets the right expectation: account access comes before any Butts County case filters.

Case Search Results Explained
A Butts County search result names a case, not the whole file. A docket is an event index. A calendar is a dated list of settings. Behind each entry sits the actual pleading, order, judgment, or exhibit, and a certified copy is what the clerk authenticates. None of these products substitutes for another.
| Case number | Local identifier such as YYYY-SU-V-NNNN. |
|---|---|
| Case style | Caption or short title. |
| Case type | Civil, criminal, domestic, or other class. |
| Docket entry | An indexed filing, motion, order, or setting. |
| Disposition | An outcome that should be checked against the filed order. |
| Calendar note | Setting, service, or continuance detail. |
The Clerk warns that online data is not the official record and may be incomplete or out of date. When exact wording matters, request the filed document.
Butts County Icon Controls
The Clerk also links an older Icon route. Its entry screen shows UserID, UserPassword, Remember User Name, and Log In. A VIEWONLY user value appears. But no usable password is published. No name, date, court, or case-type filter sits in front of the authentication wall. Icon is a separate access layer, not proof of an open guest search.
Use the Clerk's current link rather than a saved deep address. If access fails, phone the Superior Clerk. Call 770-775-8214 or 770-775-8215. You can also visit Suite 10 at 625 West Third Street in Jackson, or mail a precise request to P.O. Box 320, Jackson, GA 30233. Those routes keep a login problem from being mistaken for a missing case.
Two Searches: County and State
Georgia E-Access is a directory. PeachCourt is the provider for Butts Superior, and Icon is a separate local entry. None of them rolls every Probate, Magistrate, Juvenile, and municipal file into one statewide name search.
| Route | Coverage | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk and Icon | Butts Superior route | Known local Superior case |
| E-Access and PeachCourt | Participating courts; account gated | Butts Superior docket access |
| Direct court contact | Other courts and fallback | Correct custodian or official copy |

Statewide provider scope does not erase court-by-court custody in Butts County.
Butts County Calendar Limits
The Superior Clerk publishes ten named PDF categories rather than one interactive calendar. They include circuit, civil non-jury, civil trial, child support, criminal non-jury, arraignment, pre-trial or trial, and special-set calendars. A PDF can locate a setting. It will not show the whole event history.
Read the PDFs with care. A name missing from one proves nothing. It does not show dismissal, acquittal, sealing, or that nothing was filed. A trial listing does not prove a trial happened either. Record the title, printed date, judge, case number, and Note line. Then check a later calendar for a reset. The Butts County court schedule gives the full date route.
Federal Butts County Searches
Federal cases live on a separate track. Butts County sits in the Macon Division of the Middle District of Georgia. Those matters are heard in federal court, not the Butts County courthouse. Federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy dockets run through PACER. Registration is required, and federal fees apply per page. A state land dispute, a local traffic citation, or a Georgia criminal charge stays in state court. Who the parties are does not change that. A Butts County name alone never makes a case federal.
For the dividing line between federal venue and the Butts County court system, the Middle District court location page lists the division seats that handle these federal matters.

A federal hit is only a routing clue, so confirm the caption and the filing court before trusting it.
The official PACER site explains the system's coverage and how federal case records are organized.

Confirm the case belongs in federal court first. Then PACER makes sense. You can pick one federal court or use the nationwide Case Locator. PACER charges per page. Many documents and case-specific reports carry a cap, though, and a quarterly waiver applies when charges stay under its stated threshold. Those are federal access terms, not Butts County clerk fees.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 presumes access. Law and court orders can still restrict a file or part of it. Protected identifiers may be redacted while a public version stays open. A sealed portion does not make the whole case vanish. Juvenile files follow a separate confidentiality system where ordinary public name searching is improper. Probate and protective-order files can hold restricted material too.
When a search returns nothing, work through the causes. Wrong court, indexing gaps, account access, sealing, redaction, or confidentiality could each be the reason. A pending filing may simply be waiting for indexing. A provider outage can block a sound query. Neither proves a case is closed or hidden. The clerk's office can explain the proper access process.
Once access is allowed, ask for the precise product you need. A docket sheet lays out the event sequence. A filed order gives the court's actual terms, and certification must come from the record holder. That distinction keeps a short online entry from standing in for a full ruling. It also keeps the Butts County docket search tied to the official source.
Access rule: Ask for the specific public portion and the legal or rule basis when material is withheld.
